You, O God
You are alone Most High
You O Lord
You are the best above all things
Sufficient and sweet,
And You only satisfy
Most powerful and strong
Above all things glorious!
Most beautiful Lord
Loving like no one else
The giver of rest
Perfect in every way
Provider of peace
You are my every help
Enjoyable God
Saviour and loving King
The God of the cross
The God of the empty tomb
And with You O Lord
We will be for evermore
You...
The Westminster Shorter Catechism starts asking the following question: What is the chief end of man? The answer it gives might actually surprise many people who claim to be Christian: "Man's chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy him forever." On a similar note John Piper writes that "God is most glorified in us when we are most satisfied in him." Enjoy God? Be satisfied in Him?
This is actually where we are heading on our Journey. To the God who saved us. To be with Him for eternity and enjoy being in His presence. Our journey in some measure should reflect this. We are not with Him yet but we can and should enjoy Him now. "You" is a song for the journey; a song for the God who love us and whom we love in response. "You, O LORD"...
Faith is a journey. Faith in Christ is a walk with God that takes the believer along many different roads. A call to start the journey through the message of the Gospel, a response of faith in the One who died on the cross. A journey of joy, love, peace, but at times suffering and trials. Battles with sin and Satan, but always grace to keep us strong and to bring us to our Journey's end; to be with the One who called us to start walking in faith.
